The trainee positions serve as an excellent introduction to the packaging industry and provide an important first step in a new employee’s career development path.  At Crown, career paths are developed  based on each individual’s expertise and career focus.  In the past, Trainee’s have advances to positions such as plant management,  quality, engineering, technical sales and various corporate assignments. What will your career path be with Crown?
 
We have found it most beneficial to start Trainees as Department Supervisors with responsibility for the coordination and supervision of activities of personnel and equipment in areas throughout our specific manufacturing facilities.  Crown’s various manufacturing locations produce aluminum cans and ends for the beverage industry; steel cans for the food and aerosol industry; and metal and metal/plastic ends for the closures industry. 
 
Specific duties in this initial role will include:
 
~  Managing the set-up and adjustment of various pieces of equipment
~  Inspection of finished products to ensure compliance to standards
~  Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal performance within the equipment limits
~  Identify production problems, discuss solutions and implement fixes
~  Ensure effective communication between departments and shifts on changes to equipment, production schedules or any other relevant information
~  Involvement in various Environmental, Health and Safety issues and committees
~  Quality control issues
~  Applications of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
 

What does Crown look for in entry-level Operations & Manufacturing professionals;

A four-year degree in one of the above disciplines and a strong willingness to become involved directly in the day-to-day operations is required. The right candidate needs to be confident and self-motivated with proven interpersonal skills and an outgoing personality. They must be able to function effectively in both a team and individual environment with persistence and an attention to detail. We require the ability to manage multiple projects and the ability to prioritize effectively. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
